I felt very achey, stiff and sore before hand - and carrying tension from work stress but through the massage the muscels released wonderfully and it was great to feel my body being both relaxed and energised at the same time. Mary undertook a study to determine whether I as a chronic asthmatic would benefit from therapeutic restorative yoga.
In real terms I was looking for a reduction in my long term medication. Mary gave me with 6 one hour weekly sessions involving at least 3 relaxation positions which she designed to improve my relaxation, mobility and breathing. I then had to practise one or more of these positions daily at home.
It was interesting that although I am quite sporty and do a lot of cycling, I had never really thought about how I should relax. My thinking was that as long as I was fit and on steady medication, my asthma would be kept under control.
I found the sessions to be very relaxing and easy to do. Some of the yoga positions were completely new to me, but Mary explained everything thoroughly and demonstrated positions if required. As each session was completed, I felt more able to naturally relax by myself.
I now find that I think about relaxing at intervals during my working day. Sometimes my office can become quite stressful, and my newly taught relaxation techniques come in handy. I can perform 2 of the positions quite easily in my office.
Its been almost a week since I completed the course, and I've reduced my medication to half the originally prescribed dose. I'm still able to cycle and jog as before with no ill effects. I put this down to the fact I am generally more relaxed and don't allow myself to get so stressed.
Overall I consider the study has really improved my wellbeing and I'm very pleased with the result.

I have received a course of six Thai massages from Mary and found them relaxing and enriching. At the end of a 90minute treatment I felt soothed and nurtured, able to let go of the petty day-to-day stresses and focus on my important priorities. Thai massage is similar to yoga for the inexperienced, I gained the benefits of yoga while using Mary's experience to move and stretch me.
I also attended a short mediation short with Mary that was a great way to relax and switch off a busy mind. Mary adjusted the class according to the ambiance within the class each day so each session felt personal. After each class I would get a great nights sleep.
Mary has a fantastic venue with a huge picture window overlooking a backwater on the Thames. During the summer this adds to the experience and drinking mint tea on the decking following a treatment is a real pleasure.

This helped me think clearly and creatively, to cope and manage pressure with confidence and optimism. It was not only the techniques that Mary used, but, her kind nature and sincere interest in my situation, that made the sessions so productive. Though we met over a number of months, she always remembered important details, so that we were always moving forward in each session. She also prepared detailed notes from each session which continue to be useful to me. The sessions led to decisions I could not have made on my own. Mary was also very flexible about where, when and how we met, which helped me fit this in with the many demands of work and family.
